Re: Coding Hot Takes
My hottest coding take: `goto` statements are actually perfectly fine to use in a modern context (esp. for algorithms), if you know what you are doing with your control flow, and the sentiment against using it is way misunderstood and blown out of proportion.
I've had situations pop up in C ...
Re: Cyclists
I don't own a car and use my bike as my primary method of transportation, and I use it to get to the grocery store, to the zoo, to the post office, to the library, to various restaurants, to parks, etc. I biked to/from work before I moved to working remotely. Fort Wayne, Indiana has a trail system ...

Re: Asexuality in the furry fandom
I feel so seen, trying to explain a non-sexual interest in things like TF, plushies, and things I'm not brave enough to name, is never not a painful experience. I can never think of a way to say it that sounds convincing.
I feel like it goes better when you don't lead with "okay, so this thing ...

Cool to see someone else who likes MLP still! That's gotten harder to find in places that aren't specifically dedicated to it.

Re: Toy characters
Maybe it's because they tend to feel hard compared to the squishiness of a pooltoy or plushie.
Are they usually hard? I've seen lots of rubbery toys in real life that are squishy and the point is to squish them. Like Mash'ems for instance, though looking into it I do see some of these kinds of ...

Re: Toy characters
Hehe I guess there's not many people here who like to go for (non-erotic) solid rubber toys. Not super surprising; my choice of self representation seems very niche overall, and I think this is mostly something you go for when you really embrace autism and really embrace synthetic characters at the ...

Re: Graphing calculators
The 84-series got Python support???
Yeah! My understanding is that there's an ARM coprocessor in there specifically for Python, and it communicates with the eZ80 through a serial interface?? sys.version tells me it's 3.4.0, and I think TI took a version made for embedded systems that's based on ...

Graphing calculators
After an assignment in middle school (in the late 2000s?) had me using graphing calculators in class, I found them really cool and I bought a TI-84+ Silver Edition for myself. It was really cool to have a simple handheld computer I could use in school without getting in trouble (my school was strict ...

Yooo rollers can be fun. my favorite one is the carbon roller deco, which I like being aggressive with just like with other weapons
When I want to be aggressive I usually switch over to the Flingza Roller, where I've gotten somewhat good at instantly splatting people by running them over or by ...

Re: Resonite - The VR critter nerd paradise
Of course the elephant in the room (aside from any pachyderms present) is Resonite's performance. It's... <i>not great</i>, regardless of your hardware. But that's actively being worked on, and I have high hopes!

I'm a fan of Cervelet's car seat design that even takes taurs into account. In my worldbuilding I've thought about how taurs would interact with different things, and thought about how you would probably want to have big cushions as seating options in places like restaurants in addition to stools ...

Re: Nova's games and art
In previous Art Fights (you can look here to see what I drew this year) I was all pumped up to keep on drawing post-July and draw for myself, not just for the event, and this year I'm actually managing to do it. I've made a few things so far. I really wanted to explore euphoria from being a toy and ...
Re: Tetris
I really like Bombliss/Tetris Blast; it's really satisfying to get big explosions, and I don't have to fuss as much over bad block placements since I can blow that section up and try again. And the Fight mode in Tetris Blast is really fun and creative!

I use https://mesen.ca/ for any console that it supports (which includes NES, SNES (including Super Game Boy), Game Boy (and Color), GBA, ColecoVision, SG-1000, Sega Master System, Game Gear, WonderSwan (and Color), PC Engine. Genesis support is in development.) It's very strongly focused around ...

Re: Squid or kid? (Splatoon series)
I've played a lot of Splatoon, though I think it's 600+ hours instead of 800+. 3 was my first game in the series, after I really enjoyed the free demo Splatfest event. I primarily play the Flingza Roller and Big Swig Roller Express, and I really like the gameplay of maneuvering the map and covering ...

Re: Show me your Poke'sonas!
Instead of separate Pokémon characters, I make Pokémon versions of my other characters. I have a Shinx version of Maffi I use a lot, and an Emolga version of my squirrel character Nova (because Pachirisu was too obvious and I thought it'd be less interesting). Recently designed a Brionne Maffi for ...

Re: VPets, Tamagotchi, Digimon, Oh My!
Anyone else get the new Tamagotchi Paradise? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I like that the Tamagotchi characters you can get are different kinds of critters and I like the art style - some of the Tamagotchi models have an emphasis on weird human-y characters which I don't like as much as just ...

Re: What's your ideal arcade?
Tricky to pick since I'm not an especially big arcade fan. Compilations are proooobably not in the spirit of things but if I had an actual physical arcade I would definitely want the ability to play Dig Dug Arrangement in there, and that's where you get that. I have thought about something sort of ...

Re: Nintendo (3)DS - Touching is Good
I really liked Kirby: Planet Robobot and got a ton of enjoyment out of Animal Crossing: New Leaf - coming back to New Leaf after playing New Horizons really thoroughly was kind of surprising with just how good it is and how much character it has. And it was amazing to get a portable Smash game for ...

They can cause problems for beginners and make it difficult for them to get help with or fully understand the code they've written, but people talk as if all assembly programmers are ...

There's a lot of obscure/weird game console peripherals out there, and it's difficult just picking one thing, but I'm sure having more to look at and read about isn't bad hehe. I took a photo of my Game Boy Printer, Nintendo e-Reader, SNES Voicer-kun from Koei, and Turbo File Twin from ASCII.

I'm autistic and I have ADHD. I deal with sensory issues that can make group calls painful sometimes (which is unfortunate when virtual worlds nowadays are very focused on listening to other peoples' mics) and I can't stand open plan offices because I just can't tune things out and if sensory input ...

Re: Asexuality in the furry fandom
In general I find a lot more satisfaction roleplaying with friends and partners one-on-one rather than looking for public places to roleplay in groups or to find strangers to be roleplay partners.
In my case, very few of the people I've made friends with have any interest in roleplaying, and in ...

I wouldn't expect people here to be judgmental or treat someone as a problem for drawing NSFW art. I'd hope we're all mature adults about it.
I dunno if this is a wider thing or if I'm just talking about myself, but I do feel like an ace person who wants to engage with NSFW stuff in a NSFW space in ...
