Re: BUBSY 4D Demo

I enjoyed the demo a lot! The gameplay wasn't anything too special, but the demo only one world and most of the modifiers are locked, so it's not really clear how much it builds on itself.

The writing is fun and I really liked the visual design of the world, the stitched-together look is neat ...

Oh, I love Solatorobo! Fantastic soundtrack, too. :3

And yeah, definitely in the Fans Of Tail Concerto Series group, I've been keeping up with CyberConnect2's work since the PSX days. I even have a couple of the kemono art books they put out!

Re: Fighting Games

Not myself (I believe it was PS5 only?), but I heard some reactions from those who did- it sounds like the game feels a lot like Dragonball FighterZ in how it plays, but it really does let you just learn and play a single character if you don't want to switch.

The one complaint I heard was that the ...

Yeah, it's his empathy that defines him, which I really appreciate, you don't often see that in modern media, even outside of progression fantasies. Toxic masculinity is a hell of a drug.

Re: [BOOK] Dungeon Crawler Carl - Spoilers Ahead

I've been working my way through the books (currently on book 3) and really enjoying it!

I can definitely see scenes like The Hoarder fight pushing people away, they're very raw... but also, I feel they're necessary to keeping the core theme. It's very easy for media, especially variants of isekai ...

Sonic CD and Chaotix are two of the best classic Sonic games, if not the best classic Sonic games period. They are both excellent tests of skill for people more familiar with classic Sonic gameplay and they both bring lots of unique ideas to the table in every department. I'm convinced that most ...

A few months ago we updated my partner's PC, and I decided to turn the old one into a living room games PC. We have Steam Link set up (just using the app on our Android TV), but between the input delay, propensity to crash Steam and having controller issues when the streaming PC's Steam runs under ...

Daikatana is much improved when you disable your "friends" so they stop getting stuck on terrain, killing you with explosive weapons or dying.

Well, and once you get out of Episode 1, that game really puts its worst foot forward.

Some love for old Titus platformers. I loved both Prehistorik games, but probably spent the most time playing Titus the Fox, just because it's so dang hard .

The first Prehistorik game is fairly simplistic, you just move left to right and need to collect enough food by the end of the level to ...

Oh, both Hexen games are great. They have their issues*, but I think they're vastly better than Heretic (which I always found dull).
I've never played Heretic 2, but it does look dope.

I was just reminded of Noctis, the original No Man's Sky from ~2001. There is a huge generated galaxy of stars and planets, and you can send your weird ship to land on any of them, and even exit to do a walkabout. Even navigation is weird, you're interacting with your ship's own interface, rather ...

Boy howdy I'd love to talk about how bullshit Blood's hitscanners are. You round a corner and they immediately lock on and begin gunning you down. The two Crusader games have banger soundtracks. ratatatatatata

Here's one that's cheating a little bit, but! The original System Shock had a very eclectic soundtrack, between its General MIDI abstractness and weird, techno electronica bops, it creates a pretty unique soundscape.

Anyway, sometime ...
