Ribbit King actually slaps

Dillon's Dead Heat breakers is a game I only seem to remember. part of the problem is that it was a late late 3DS title, and it was eShop only in the US.

Turns your Mii into an animal after starting a new game. Turns streetpass friends into animals, which then become NPCs you can hire and level up. The character designs are all furries and it's all really good?

Missions are a frantic maelstrom of tower defense, beat em up, and map traversal. The final stage of each level turns into racing combat.

In between missions you have a little town you can walk around in and do various things, such as
- Running a shop
- Dirtbike racing
- Pachinko parlor

each minigame is really fleshed out and could be it's own game. Dirtbike racing could be a whole game. The shopkeeper minigame could be a whole game.

The writing and music are really really charming. I regularly will snap photos of dialog or item descriptions because they're really funny or charming.

Anyway I think I'm the only person who remembers this game.

I don't think I've ever heard anybody talk about Dead Head Fred:


Weird little game! Combination schlock horror/noir vibe, you play a detective who wakes up with no memory of the past few days, and a bad case of Decapitation. His brain salvaged in a jar and bolted back on, he has to find out who did it and why. Also he's voiced by John C McGinley.

I actually have Dillon's Rolling Western on my boyfriend's 3DS! Never played Dead Heat Breakers, though. It's a pretty unusual game both in terms of game structure and mechanics, though I only played a little bit of it before.

god, I remember spending an embarrassing amount of time in Shining Soul II for the GBA



it's a hack'n'slash game where you can play as either a wolf man or a dragon man. the wolf man in particular also gets a passive skill where his HP regenerate over time, which is *really* good

OMG yes!! Shining Souls II is incredible, as soon as I saw this thread I was gonna post about the Shining franchise in general. Specifically the Shining Force series which is basically the most popular spin off




Shining Force was basically Sega's answer to Nintendo's Fire Emblem, but even then it has some amazing features for its time (that even Fire Emblem wouldn't get until way later) Shining Force 3 (with all of its 3 scenarios) is maybe one of my favorite games of all time. The whole series was developed by Camelot Software Planning, which would later become more well known for basically being a Nintendo 2nd Party (Mario Tennis, Golden Sun, etc)

Aside from being one of my favorites SJRPGs franchises, there's a few fur fellows that are actually good units! So definitely give them a go.

I was always partial to Legend of Dragoon



It's honestly one of my favorite JRPGs of all time. It suffered in the era from an awful localization, as well as competing with titans like Final Fantasy.

In all honestly, it's pretty bog-standard fantasy writing, starting at a tyrant trying to overthrow a king, but...

I dunno, maybe there's something to be said about the fact that the main characters insert the souls of dragons into themselves to tap into their power (and don really sick armor besides). I think the design work and aesthetic of the dragoon armor is what really did it for me.

Scourge Hive is a game I have never seen ANYONE talk about, and this is coming from a Trauma Center/Team fan (Awesome DS/Wii series BTW,I do recommend playing through all the games)

It's been awhile since I played but I think it was a timed action adventure game that played like an isometric Metroid game, horror themings included.

I kmew i saw that cover before, the game is planned to rerelease on steam at some point

OH FUCK YES I LOVED THIS GAME when i was a wee child i just could not fight the last boss but years later, i realize how god damn easy it is

the art design, music, and vfx, not to mention its fun combat system is really really something wonderful, i miss this game
