Re: gaming on Linux
🔴 how do you use a raspberry pi as a daily driver? don't you feel the low spec?
Not when most of the computer hardware that I'd been using beforehand had been older x86 laptops that family members had upgraded from, from which I wiped Windows and installed Linux. That in itself was normally ...

Also, maybe it's just the graphics close-up -- but my goodness, there's something unusually horizontal about the pixels in this thumbnail screenshot. It seems like it's almost from a C64 game or Sierra AGI game ...

Re: Now You're Playing With Turbo Power - RndStranger's PC-Engine Power Megathread
Huh. I suppose it makes sense, but I hadn't processed how many ports this game received: to the point of being among the most-commonly ported.
Oof, though -- I guess this did its part in contributing to the idea of it being acceptable for police to chase down suspects at all costs.

Re: Forum Suggestions and Issues
I have no idea of the difficulty of implementing this proposal, given that I only have experience with static HTML 1.0 pages and sites --
but, in the same way that YouTube videos can be embedded within posts, would it be possible to also embed videos from PeerTube instances on the Fediverse?

Re: Is anyone here into cyberdecks?
So, it's in a pretty standard form factor, of a thick & heavy tablet, but I suppose my daily driver otherwise counts as cyberdeck-ish.
This first picture shows the back, as it currently stands with its rough first design made of balsa wood & wood glue,

Re: gaming on Linux
I've been using a Raspberry Pi as my daily driver for about, what, maybe 7 years now? So, basically, I've only tried stuff that works natively under 64-bit Linux ARM (i.e. AArch64, deffo not to be confused with Arch Linux). And most of what I have installed can be found via Flathub's games section ...

I most certainly do need to read more of the articles contained, especially what R. Copetti listed as pre-reqs to better understanding the PC Engine & TurboGrafx-16 CPU (namely, the articles for the NES and possibly the SNES as well) --

Fursonas seemed to go dire wolf, fox wolf, dog wolf, etc.

Why?

Re: The MiSTer-y Dungeon - MiSTer Megathread
I was lucky to get a DE-10 Nano, analog I/O board, and RAM expansion module for comparatively not-so-much, some years back. So far, I've only used it to play homebrew titles that I've purchased, like Xeno Crisis for Neo Geo, or freeware I've downloaded, like the NES & C64 versions of Wolfling. At ...

Ooh. HakariSquish, that is an excellent transparent DS Lite!
So, I've been working on, and need to get back into, modding the video output on a PC Engine I've got with the TurboNanza video mod, though I've also been working on creating a full set of breakouts for the mini-DIN-style 10-pin Sega ...

Re: sonic
I regret not getting Sonic for Neo Geo Pocket Color when it was cheaper. I was only finding standalone cartridges locally and was waiting for a complete copy, except I let it lapse -- aaaaaand wellllllll now it's not nearly as cheap.

Happy NB day!
Just to relay here what I said as a reply in my intro thread -- I only found out about it yesterday, but I'm glad it exists!
Someone linked this bsky thread of a bit of history, issues facing NB people (in the UK at least), and examples of high-profile NB people.
Anyway, gender is ...

Re: Mystery Dungeon games!
I dove SUPER hard into Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer for DS. It was a lot of fun, figuring out how to use what I had in my inventory, to squeak past a horrifically difficult situation!
I think I ended up completing the Final Puzzle some 3 or 4 times.

I've really been appreciating this series, explaining the cultural and/or contemporary context of each game.
Looking forward to when RndStranger covers the first PC Engine Bomberman, which was the first PC Engine game that I was able to play to completion. Granted, thinking back on my playthrough ...

[Subject line could've also been PC Wan-jin, but it looks like "jin" might sometimes mean "man", so I went with the above!]
