Re: In This Thread We Talk About Magic The Gathering
I've been wanting to play the MTG video games (pre-duels of the planeswalkers) real bad for a long time but Shandalar is the only one that's easy to get up and running without original hardware. Like Battlemage is on PS1 but it doesn't support the playstation mouse and I don't really feel like ...

Re: Let's work together to clear the Tower of Druaga
Okay so I figured out floor 3. You gotta the knight. He's weird but not too difficult. Just move back and forth on him with your sword out. I'm not really sure how a knight kills you but he probably can. When you kill him you get a potion that seems to act as an extra life. I died while holding it ...

Let's work together to clear the Tower of Druaga
Japanese arcades were known to have communal notebooks that people could write in to share strategies, secrets, tips, jokesz and whatever else. This was a common practice and what allowed games like Tower of Druaga to be cleared.
Well, this forum is our arcade and this thread is our notebook. Let's ...

Here's my backlogged. I started it in October of 2024 with the plan to rate and review every game I put serious time into but then I got COVID then had surgery then got the flu then moved to another continent so I just completely forgot about it. It's been a busy period for sure. I'll start ...

I have a very vivid memory of playing Pac-Man Collection during the Northeast Blackout of 2003 . It was so fucking hot and my twin baby siblings were about to turn 1 year old so we had to spend all day in my mom's minivan because it had air conditioning. I was playing the shit out of Pac-Man ...

There's a lot of arcade games that are really easy to emulate or are available to purchase via Arcade Archives so it's a little difficult to pick but I have some ideas.

I'm not the biggest ever on playing board games but if you asked me to sit down and play a game of carcassone I would almost always say yes. Oceans is also very fun. I also really really like fantasy realms but I always get very grumpy after losing super hard which I usually do.

Re: sonic
Project 06 is really cool. My major gripe with it is that (last I saw) they're just not going to do the hubs or the connecting stories, just the individual levels. That's like half of the game just not included and that's a real fucking bummer.

Where do you even start with the PS2? My favorite bargain bin gem I've ever found for it is S.L.A.I., the sequel to the XBox game Phantom Crash. Remote controlling customizable mechs from the comfort of your home for fun and profit and also sometimes people get murdered IRL while doing this and ...

I've been to Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears concerts as a pretty young kid but I didn't really go to any live shows until last year when I saw Haken in Gothenburg.
I saw them in September 2024 at Stora Teatern, which seats about 600 people. It was a 3 hour long set where they played every song ...

I both love and hate the N64, mainly because it's so hard to find a good PC controller that works was for N64 games. I'm not interested in trying to do original hardware because it's such a money sink, even for just the console, a decent controller, and an everdrive. I got my pal Rachel one when ...

One of the main reasons I bought a Series X this generation was to play some classics I never had the chance to. I've gone through Ninja Gaiden Black, Ninja Gaiden 2, I've played some Lost Odyssey and Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. Even playing some "bad" or "average" games like Army of Two was ...

Has anyone played Arkista's Ring? It's a top down little action rpg-lite game where you're an elf named Christine and you're killing baddies to power up and fight the Evil Shogun. I did a little zine for it inspired by the magazines in Retro Game Challenge on the DS (the GameCenter CX game). It's ...

Re: Playdate, that one console with a crank
I've wanted a Playdate since they were announced. From what I've seen, a lot of the games are really neat. The issue is the price. $230 is just so much for a game system that is so limited in its offerings. It's a real bummer because it seems super cool.

In high school I made a friend in study hall by talking about Halo. This new friend told me all about Halo 3 (it was like a month after it came out) and eventually I went to his house with him to play. I was pretty blown away by how good it looked and how fun it was. He also showed me Dead Rising ...

I hadn't heard about it before today. I downloaded the demo and gave it a shot and it seems really neat. It doesn't run super great on my computer but maybe I'll definitely keep it in mind whenever I upgrade. Thanks!

I just finished reading The Priory of the Orange Tree which was absolutely fantastic. I haven't read a book so long in a while but it felt near-perfectly paced throughout and I simply couldn't put it down. Beautiful queer love stories wrapped in an absolute banger of a fantasy epic. It shot to the ...

I've been looking for a decent analog to Animal Crossing for a long time. There's so much I love about the series. The general gameplay loop, the villagers (though I still wish they were a little more mean like in the original), the aesthetics, the home designing, nothing quite compares.

Re: MS-DOS -- DOS ist gut! or C:\oWo
The only DOS game I played as a kid was Disney's Beauty and the Beast. My grandfather taught me how to load up the game when I was like 2, 2 and a half. Old enough to read and understand important words to get to the next picture.
In the past couple years I've explored DOS a little more thoroughly ...
