I could just make a Crazy Taxi thread, but why not get some leaderboards going too?
Let's do the "Original" map in the Dreamcast release, since that's hopefully a more even playing field. If you don't have a dreamcast, it emulates plenty fine. I'll post something in a day or two when I get around to actually playing it. (Help give me motivation to play! )
If you don't know what a limit cut is, you might want to learn...
I need to sit down and do a few runs with a map out to get my bearings but I got some good luck with customers for this one
My thumb hurts now lol
Also a question for you emulator users: Do you get any slowdown in the downtown parts? There's one or two places in the original map that get some pretty substantial slowdown at times. I don't think it really matters with regards to runs but it always bugged me that most emulators desync the intro demo.

I don't recall having any slowdown.
"If you see me, please just walk on by, walk on by
Forget my name and I'll forget it too."

I'll see about recording next time I do runs. It's not subtle at all when it happens lol.
I've played the game enough that the soundtrack is too small for me, so I took some time to figure out a way to get my mp3 player to go through the speakers in addition to the game audio so I can put on full length Offpsring and Bad Religion albums. Good for an extra k or two on your scores.
I got a 15k but I'm calling it "map assisted" for the moment since I did it while pausing between stops to check the map. I guess that could be allowed since this map is for the dreamcast version and there's no reason not to pause, I suppose. But until others weigh in I'll not call that an "official" result.
Some things I learned:
The arrow is not to be trusted, especially on the eastern "hilly" side of the map. Best example of this is picking up the second person on the right at the start, which should always be to "Wave & Beach". The ideal route is taking an immediate left at the fork, then going until the road merges in with another one then taking the first left. The arrow hates this, but it's the best way there.
The "King's Park" area has the most consistent, gnarliest slowdown. If you can cruise through there without slowdown then your emulator is immune to it. I'm using a GDEMU on my dreamcast for whatever it's worth, but I don't think that should impact it.
Landing Pier and Lighthouse deliveries suck. If you aren't careful you fall off and have to drive around to get back up.
I've taken the overhead freeway a few times to get to stuff in the "city square" area, but I usually have to drive the opposite way a bit to get to it and I'm not sure if it's ultimately faster or not. Come to think of it, I have no idea how the hell I was south of the police station when I got that pickup.
The subway is where dreams go to die.
The railroad tracks can sometimes be ok.
And I really need to record this game whenever I play because stupid, clippable moments happen every single time without fail.
It's way, WAY harder to pick up than the Arcade map because of the design. Fun, but you really do need to learn your way from A to B in this one and ignore the arrow half the time.
