Why are you the way you are

For a while my most favourite animals were wolves. Then, I have NO IDEA WHY EXACTLY but in my late teens, something activated in my brain while I was watching parrot videos and I thought "OH MY GOD I LOVE BIRDS SO MUCH".
Before this point I knew that ravens were smart as heck and really cool, but as I watched and read more, I just became so drawn to them! They're so fun-loving, they have so much folklore to them which excites me as a history & mythology lover, the mischief they get up to, I just felt so connected to them! So that's how my main sona turned out to be a raven!

Always loved bears, in every shape they come, but when I found the fandom I also influenced a lot by Chen Stormstout in Warcraft 3. I decided to make my own bear, appearance of a panda, kinda as a tribute and merged it with characters I'd made dumb stories about as a kid, pretty sure that was maladaptive daydreaming rather than writing but still. There are influences from other media, and infused with my desires to explore and learn.

I went through a phase where I thought I had to make it 'less cringe' or more respectable, whatever, but when I hit my 30's I thought stuff that I'll embrace my weird and make my full magic sparkle bear :3

I have a couple fursonas (and many discarded from the past) but Izzie is the newest and came about when I decided that I wanted a non-predatory species as a fursona. I was going to choose between hare & deer. Hare won out especially due to the role of the species in folklore & the hare's association with witchcraft in particular.

Izzie is only a couple of weeks old but she quickly became my main fursona. She feels so much more "me" than I do and that's ended up with me becoming a hare in an alterhuman way as well (though I see myself as a more natural looking European hare than Izzie is.)

If you were to tell 9/10/11 year old me that it'd end up primarily hare as an adult in her late 20s, those versions would laugh at you. Little me loved Balto & Warrior Cats so wolves & cats were little me's thing. I made a lot of fursonas and ocs based on those interests at first.

I used to be pretty disinterested in fictional species ("there are so many cool animals that actually exist, be one of those!") and thought having shapeshifting as an ability was a cop-out for people who were unwilling to choose one thing and stick with it. I also just had a general trend of preferring shortstack 'sonas, with all my prior ones being in the ½–1½ metre range.

Anyway, then I made an "OC" that was a 6 metre long fictional shapeshifter and whoops they were my fursona within a fortnight.

I haven't really chosen yet. I love ponies, I love dogs, I love cats, foxes, tigers, all kinds of animals, but I haven't really figured out who I am just yet.

Since I do love ponies so much, though, I use one as my profile pic, but who am I? Why am I? I'm still figuring that out. Hopefully I can hang around here and get a good feel because as much as I am a furry, I've never actually been a part of furry social media in general.

about a year and a half ago, Inka-Subs released a new English fansub of the 1989 Jungle Emperor anime - aka The New Adventures of Kimba the White Lion. this is the one that used to have ads on the Pokemon VHS tapes.

this one was very different in that it was a ground-up English translation effort, with very high accuracy and DVD quality. oh and it actually had all the original 52 episodes, instead of only 13 like the official English dub.

well after watching it my brain was efficiently and violently reprogrammed into becoming a lion furry. i had no control. and so here i am. rawr or something.
