A video game that I am slowly putting together in Godot. Still very much in the early stages but I like posting about game dev it is enriching.
My plan for this game is to do the good old metroidvania approach. Large world with a bunch of places you can go, upgrades to get, enemies to get mauled by, everything you'd want to do. It's a kinda oversaturated genre at the moment but oh well that's life.
Here are some gifs of the game in action. I'm wanting an emphasis on ranged combat for this game, and the player will get a couple different options for that throughout the game. Hoping I've reached the skill level necessary to take on a project like this. Only one way to find out.

Re: Project Komodo
Mostly finished with adding a transition system and the level loading code above that to handle the player moving to different locations.

Re: Project Komodo
As I slowly plug away at the actual game's programming and design, I also put in work on the writing and concept art fronts. The current plot of Project Komodo centers around a crew known as the Truth Expedition, who are looking to map out and finally conquer an archipelago known as the Bessal Islands.
This group of islands was once the site of an assuredly important series of structures built by an ancient civilization. While that civilization is long gone, the islands are still patrolled both by their defensive constructs, and incredibly dangerous fauna not found anywhere else in the world. While attempts in the past have been made to explore the archipelago, none of them have had the funding and advanced technology that the Truth Expedition holds.
Here is a bunch of early concepts for some of the characters that might end up in the final game:
Truth Templeton, the funder of the expedition.
Noa Love, the scout of the expedition.
Cliff Clay, the quartermaster of the expedition campsite.
Hosteen Gause, the surgeon of the expedition campsite.
The Shamed Lord, a strange and aloof face who seems to know more than he lets on.
Saray, a long time prisoner of the island.
