Bwee Bwee Bwee!
I noticed no-one had made one of these for Noise music yet so I figured "Why not!"
I've been jamming to a few artists in this genre for a good while now, and I figured this would be a good way to see if anyone had any songs/albums/artists to share!
I'm a pretty big fan of Hanatarash! (The Live performance videos I've found are top notch!)
I also love Merzbow, and I usually listen to them while drawing!
I've checked out Throbbing Gristle a bit in the past as well :3
This music is most definitely not for everyone x3 but I figured maybe there'd be one or two critters out there who enjoy it!
If you're familiar with the Genre, please share your faves!
WARNING!!! This genre can be Loud/Abrasive/Harsh!!! Please listen carefully and responsibly!!!
SEIZURE WARNING!!! MANY VIDEOS MAY CONTAIN FLASHING LIGHTS/COLORS IN THIS GENRE!!! PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS IF YOU ARE EFFECTED BY THOSE THINGS!!!

Re: NOISE MUSIC!!!
I'm not so much a noise music fan, but my headmate really likes noise :P It's one of the only genres it listens to, though it hasn't dove deep into the genre yet.

As proof of this, here's art we commissioned of it :P
[Meredith typing now] As much as I love his work I've been a little disappointed with Merzbow lately, the AI album covers definitely are on-brand for the kind of anti-art ethos noise musicians can have but I can't lie and say they look particularly good. His non-AI covers just look better, and the AI covers make his work look cheap.
We haven't had the time or the mental energy to listen to any new albums lately (let alone noise), but I'll definitely add Hanatarash & Throbbing Gristle to my backlog

Re: NOISE MUSIC!!!
Oh damn I didn't even know they were using AI generative stuff, a lot of the time I focus on the music and just throw it on without much mind and let it auto play (starting with just the pulse demon album Everytime), but i guess it just means I gotta find Noise music artists with more integrity :3 might as well make it an opportunity to expand out instead of sticking to just what I'm aware of sound wisevurrsys wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 1:41 pm I'm not so much a noise music fan, but my headmate really likes noiseIt's one of the only genres it listens to, though it hasn't dove deep into the genre yet.

Re: NOISE MUSIC!!!
Merzbow is essential. I'm probably never going to be able to listen to his entire discography (there's so much!), but it is fun to tune in and discover something new every time.
I do really enjoy "Frozen Niagara Falls" by Prurient. That album surprised me quite a bit, and I even wrote a little review of it on my website.
In general, I tend to listen to more noise-adjacent stuff rather than, like, power electronics per se. I guess I like being eased into the noisy/glitchy world, heh. "Lisbon" by Keith Fullerton Whitman is my absolute favorite example of what I mean, and I highly recommend paying attention to all 40 minutes of it. I also admire the twisted, highly manipulated yet organic sounds that Fennesz creates.

Re: NOISE MUSIC!!!
I haven't kept up with Autechre in like, 20+ years, but after seeing this thread, I had to check their soundcloud. They've kept every upload! It was a treat to go back and listen to some of the noise I jammed to on my MP3 player as a teenager. n.n
