I watch a lot of, and am super into, Baumgartner Fine Art Restoration videos (and also Julian Baumgartner himself, but that's neither here nor there nor in my pants) which lines up with my general attitude about caring about artefacts and how they're made, preserved and conserved.
At some point while I was in college, a videogame called Restoring Rhonda got into my radar: half standard Match–3 puzzle, half Art Restoration/Surgery Simulator. I recorded some gameplay, hoping to find other souls who happened to have tried this one.
Playing the Match–3 puzzle part well gives you "better" tools (read: more consistent, faster, larger brushsize) to perform cleaning and repair tasks, resulting in a higher revenue/score. The artwork you restore in the game are pictures made (presumably given/licensed for use in the game) by real people who are given credit.
So... that's it for the Restoring Rhonda bit I guess, but ever since that, and my entry into a Baumgartner addiction, I've kept an eye out for games with such gameplay, or at least about art(ifact) conservation. I've played Assemble With Care before, and am looking at Trash Goblin, Memory Fragment for the future.
Have you played games like this, can you rec me some, or do you clamour, yearn, desire, etc for more of these?
Restoring Rhonda (2008) (but also any videogames that involve art restoration / object repair)
