(Tabletop) Pathfinder 2nd Edition - Crit By 10? Hell Yes
I fucking love Pathfinder 2nd edition. Like holy shit, there is so much tactical depth to this game, and building characters in it is SO FUN.
The newest book, Battlecry!, just went out to subscribers (and fully releases July 31), and with it are arriving two new martial classes, the Commander and Guardian. The Commander organizes and directs their teammates to greater efficiency and extra moves. The Guardian is basically a hard-to-kill meat and metal miracle with an actual aggro draw mechanic.
Like... god, I fucking love this game, and the best part is that almost everything you need to play is freely available online.
Archives of Nethys is a repository of pf2e information you can search:
https://2e.aonprd.com/
Pathbuilder 2e is a website where you can straight-up build characters / plan your build all the way to level 20:
https://pathbuilder2e.com/
And... yeah. Game's good. I encourage y'all to talk about it and/or post your chars or post ABOUT your chars in here.

It's been so hard to find anybody to run this thing because most furries in this sphere just wanna play D&D, and it's a real bummer. I'd love to give it a proper shot, if I knew the right people.
One of the designers put out a book that lets you be a dragon. How it works is you start off with none of your dragon stuff at level 1, and as you level up, you can choose to take on more dragon traits.
The point is, I wanna be a dragon with a gun. I cannot do this, so I despair.

I really really really want to play a PF2E game too, the problem is finding out a good time zone and a schedule.
I mostly want to try out one of those newfangled PF-only classes that D&D just doesn't have.

Oh, buddy. I could say so many angry words about the state of D&D, but I don't know if this forum is the place for it.Bobinator wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 4:02 am It's been so hard to find anybody to run this thing because most furries in this sphere just wanna play D&D [...]
I have GM experience! I just... need more time in my schedule. And. A more consistent schedule.[...] and I'd love to give it a proper shot, if I knew the right people.

definitely echoing the positive sentiments here. i’ve played a lot of 5e in my time, but after playing the beginner’s box campaign for pf2e i can’t imagine ever going back. the changes to how actions work makes combat feel so much more compelling, it’s so smart.
i recently finished an abomination vaults campaign playing as an elementalist. extremely fun stuff, i’d recommend it to anyone who has been listening to actual play podcasts and wants to get into the hobby

Feels like there might be the start of another PF2E campaign right here, with the few of us that have shown interest lol.

PF2e is absolutely a fantastic DnD-like.
Our table uses the free-archetype rules, because the archetypes are so fun that it’s a shame to not use them. You can be a magical girl, even! It’s great! And we use the free-archetype rules too because, well, it’s a lot more fun and less work on the GM to just get a permanent +1 to a useful skill than get awarded some charm like “+1 to backflips while handstanding, once, and then it disintegrates,” lol.
I’ve enjoyed most of the APs I’ve played—-shockingly, the “magic school” one felt completely disconnected from any certain other distasteful magic school, and even that one was actually pretty neat. Plus, the APs having pre-set-up assets for Foundry is awesome; I hear you can basically just import a package and go.
We’ve also loaded down our Foundry server with a bunch of mods and addons, including an extremely unreliable but beloved theme-music one to give everyone a theme song when their turn comes up.

i've only played a little pf2, but i like what i've seen of it quite a bit. i was a 3.5 holdout back during the days of 4e because i preferred 3.5's emphasis on mixing different sources together to get what you wanted out of chargen, and the way pf2 presents stuff like species as its own class-like progression and option set makes it feel like a 'fair' gestalt, it's interesting. i also find their critical hit/miss rules pretty palatable even as someone who dislikes crits in general

Big fan of PF2E!
Character in my regular campaign is a witch wizh alchemist archetype, a kholo. She's a cannibal, and her main role is to terrify our rogue (who's a real sweet kid, sheltered, easily teased) while not loading up potions and tattoos on everyone else. Also our Ozher one (on hiatus, atm) is a nagaji elementalist sorcererss/swashbuckler (and acrobat free archetype). Magic school truant who wants to be a pirate, keeps a trident handy but mostly plays keepaway wizh lightning.
I do love how many options you get, bozh overall and as you level up-lot of stuff to mess around while not feeling like I'm rendering myself too spread out to be effective.

I'm a HUGE fan of Pathfinder from what I've had the opportunity to play so far; I really dig how it runs and plays, and I'm having a ton of fun playing my funny psychic kitsune guy. I've been getting into a lot more ttrpg generally, but PF2E scratches that fantasy itch and I love it way more than 5e, and I know that if I let myself have a little less self control I'd be playing like a million campaigns lmfao

In my first PF2 campaign right now. Did not play PF1 at all.
Character is a Lizardfolk Guard/Ruffian. She is from a hidden city, whose ancient magical relic was absconded with, and now her long term goal is to return with the stolen relic, and to bring back cool things from the outside world.
She's been very fun to play as! She did not know what a Kobold was, so when she saw one, she thought it was a child lizardfolk until corrected. She's very naive about the world, due to living in a society that has been isolationist for a millennia.
Currently keeping a play log/journal, that I'm intended on turning into a more structured telling or journal from her point of view.
