Considering the whole point of the internet is sending various forms of data from one place to another, it's surprising how many hoops you need to jump through just to send a file. File size limits, questionable servers, wondering who else is looking at the data you're sending, and so on.
I found Magic Wormhole some years ago and it's been extremely good for just, sending files. It's P2P, so the only limitation is your network connection, and it does E2E encryption as well. Getting files safely from one computer to another, does what it says on the tin. The main downside is that it's command line only, and it's not great walking less technical friends through setting up WSL so they can run a few commands to use it.
Thankfully someone later told me about Rymdport, which is literally just a GUI version of magic wormhole, and thus cross compatible. So I can tell my Windows Friends to install Rymdport and give them a code I made with my command line magic wormhole version, and all is well in the world!
And the codes you have to tell the other person are just two words and a number, specifically designed so it's easy to say, tell someone over the phone or whatever.
There's a now almost 10 year old talk about the program on youtube here. A lot of the technical details are beyond me, but it works!
This is probably the single most useful program I've found in recent years, I think everyone should know about it.
