Re: Forum Suggestions and Issues

i don't know if its worth making a larger announcement about this, but apparently overnight imgur has blocked everyone in the uk from viewing it so now a lot of threads are full of broken images for anyone lucky enough to live on this shithole island. maybe don't recommend it as an image host ...

Re: Forum Suggestions and Issues

What should we do about images in signatures like userbars? There's no way to upload them as far as I'm aware in that page. You have to link to it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I remember.

EDIT: Yep. That's the case

New Forms by Roni Size! It was a groundbreaking album in terms of style in 1997 in the Jungle/Early DnB scene.

Programming is what you make of it. I think trying new languages, new libraries, new ideas, is all part of the fun. You can still learn different stuff, even from working in clunky languages, so I don't think it's a bad idea to try out ...

Re: Coding Hot Takes

not sure if this is a hot take or not but i feel like OOP/inheritance in C++ is absolutely awful. it's either that or i'm not doing it properly. genericism via base class sounds cool until i realize that i need to be handling pointers to derived class and dynamic_cast it into the correct class. at ...

Re: Resonite - The VR critter nerd paradise

i've only really messed around with Resonite a few times with the help of a friend but from what i've seen it's been pretty awesome, i'm just not really sure how to engage with it more... i'm not the best at opening it up on my own and just looking around for people to find, vrchat is a lot easier ...

I didn't know that! Interesting. It seems vimtutor didn't teach us everything more than 15 years ago...

Re: Switching to Linux for the first time!

BTRFS actually has become stable last I checked, but it used to be... a gamble to use. It's actually better in some ways that ZFS as it has better built in error correction that's technically less of a gamble than ZFS is, because ZFS works great with ECC memory, but if you have normal memory, there ...

Re: Switching to Linux for the first time!

Still waiting for an excuse to sit down and try editing in kdenlive. I normally can get by with, erm, raw ffmpeg.

ffmpeg my beloved. Yeah same, I usually use ffmpeg for everything I can. It's normally just faster to do simple things in ffmpeg than to use a full fledged video editor. Man, last ...

Re: Resonite - The VR critter nerd paradise

Also, if anyone is considering Resonite and is worried about performance issues, or if your hardware is not the best, when "The Splittening" is released (currently in pre-release for testing), you might find the platform works for you suddenly! I've seen people running the pre-release branch on ...

Re: Resonite - The VR critter nerd paradise

Of course the elephant in the room (aside from any pachyderms present) is Resonite's performance. It's... not great, regardless of your hardware. But that's actively being worked on, and I have high hopes!
When I gave it a try, it made my laptop hotter than it had ever previously been ...

Re: Resonite - The VR critter nerd paradise

That being said, I do confess that Resonite has some rough edges. It's always been a bit much for a layperson like me to wrap my head around - Importing avatars has never worked for me, regardless of any tutorials that I follow. I gather that it has a lot to do with the fact that the avatars are ...

Resonite - The VR critter nerd paradise

I just joined the forums and I noticed there was a VR section, but also noticed nobody was talking about Resonite yet! Resonite is an expression-centric, smaller VR platform, and it's where I spend a lot of my time, and where I found my current partner. There's just so much you can do there, while ...
