Re: Whatcha readin'?
Oh man, uh. Is anyone here interested in non-fiction?? It always feels so weird when people share fictional stories, and stories that have some kind of plot in general, while most of the stuff I read and actually enjoy, is science and non-fiction crabmad I think that comics (mangas included) would ...

Re: Whatcha readin'?
Recently I finished up Creaky Acers for that good horsegirl content, in this case that means girl with horse not a girl wh is a horse, that would be when I re-read Dun Lady'y Jess, though I guess thats a horse who is a girl.

Re: Linux General Thread
I'm writing this message from my Pi400 which I just resetup to muck about on. I've been running some *nix as my main desktop os for at least a decade probably closer to 15 years - to the point that all my storage of photos, and docs and music where store in ext4 not even something compatible with ...

Re: Music Library Software?
I can definetly second navidrome, the only tricky this is that it only relies on metadata and not folders so if you music is not well labled it can have a tough time. I really liked Symfoniun as an android app for playback, which also supports stream from plex or locally on your phone. Today I sent ...

Re: Do you have a Home Server? You should!
Having a home server is one of those things I've always thought was really cool, but the few times I've had extra hardware laying around and made one... I couldn't think of a single thing to do with it that wasn't more convenient to keep on my desktop. Do y'all have a ton of devices spread across ...

Re: Minidiscs
I missed out on minisdics as they hust weren't as big a thing US-wards, but really I think I'd have loved them, the big issues I had with my cd player with cd-r compatibility is I could only write them once. If I could have rewritten the same disc many times to update my mixes I probably would have ...

Re: Do you have a Home Server? You should!
Yes, but today I decided I wanted to test Tmobile Home Internet again so its a bit broken, all my home network stuff is fine but all my external access software is broken, its a fun adventure I think I'll probably need to learn tailscale to fix this.

Re: Website development (+ tech support)
I want to recommend https://tomodashi.com/kiki Kiki - while the hosting side is a bit more complicated since you need the right PHP support, the website construction is a delight and very hackable, I'll have mine back up soon. I was hosting it off a raspi3 until a few days ago but I wanted to use ...

Sony CD Changer
A while ago I got a hold of a 100 disc sony cd changer and I've been wanting to use it more, but without other sony equipment I've hit a standstill. Recently I've been learning about the standard to controlling it and I'm real close to controlling it with my raspberry Pi B+ 3, my first move resulted ...

Re: Forum Suggestions and Issues
I think the retro is mostly gaming based for this forum but it might make sense to have a space other than oddities for general retro tech, likely recently I've been trying to set up remote control of a sony cd changer with my raspberry pi, but it really only fits in oddities now.

Excited to see more "smallweb" things popping up, we need alternatives and seeing bb options and webrings being tried is an exciting path compared to the big social media sites.
