I am saddened to announce the release for the Homestuck animated cartoon, directed by Vivziepop. Honestly this is such a low point for the series and I've never felt worse :(

...I wanted to get into this series after so many years, despite all the controversies. My friend told me how to read the comic, so I get to actually enjoy it*, and

They were also the one that told me about this

...WELL, another reason to browse through the web comic recommendation thread, ah ha ha.
foxghost

*Reading it with breaks, kinda LARPing that new pages are coming out. I always recommend this to people who enjoy anime, and shows, but I didn't think that it may be nice for webcomics, too.

There's so much I'm worried about when it comes to this adaptation

First is just... Viv doing Viv things. I know she's an executive producer but that's not nothing.

Second is there is so much copywritten stuff in this comic that might have to be taken out because I don't think Betty Crocker is gonna sign up for this.

A lot of the comic can be cut down by making it animated, but there is gonna be a lot of meta text lost because of it

And also, a major plot point of Homestuck is that its story is immutable because it causes itself. Like, any deviation from the established chain of events Will get everyone killed.

There are some positives that I am looking forward to, but that's mostly Homestuck's contribution to Fandom Culture making a comeback. Quadrant Shipping was peak and it sucks that it barely ever escaped containment. This Fandom was the only one that actually cared about non romantic ships and was oddly, one of the few safe places as a aroace shipper
