Now Playing...

Post by Enbyeon »

Post the game you're currently playing. If you want, you can also post some thoughts on it!

I'm currently going through Dark Souls 3 seamless co-op with Necrotext. Fourth time playing through the game, first time with the seamless mod. It's been fun using the Moonlight Greatsword in a build for the first time ever.

I'm also playing some Ghostlore for that ARPG fix and after bouncing off of it the first time 2 years ago, I'm really into it now.

Oh I knew I'd seen you play that before some time, it looked so familiar!

I picked up Pseudoregalia on sale so I've been playing that and i think the platforming is genius? I don't know how they did it but I feel like every platforming puzzle has a million possible solutions if you don't have the "intended" tools yet, but it still doesn't feel like it's Too Easy either.

Since nearly every path is only gated by your ability to get there, it feels really rewarding to get good with what you have at any one time (and when you make it you immediately pick up the thing you were supposed to use). It's the only search action I've played where it's not obvious what the intended path is even supposed to be; everywhere I've gone I've managed to collect a decent amount of stuff.

Been playing Psychonauts 2 but we don't love the idea of talking too much about it super publically because it would feel like encouraging people to give Microsoft money. It's pretty good though they seem to have gone Full Hitchcock in making the antagonist which is kind of hilarious after they spend a lot of time trying to be super nice and 'your condition is valid!' about everything else.

playing "Squirreled Away", in which you play a little squirrel and climb trees, gathering materials, crafting tools and building a little house in the trees

its fun!! theres a little bit of progression in unlocking new areas and finding new materials in them to build new stuff, and the climbing around is very fun

We've been slowly chipping away at going through the NES Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games, with the idea of eventually catching up to the SNES and early 3D ones. Started with DQ1, which was enjoyable even if it would be considered barebones by today's standard. FF1 was very cool to experience the more D&D style magic system and allowed for a little more creativity even if half the spells were glitched. DQ2 was a good step up from the first, very much enjoyed the combat but sheesh that game was designed to sell strategy guides with how hidden some *mandatory* items were.

We just started FF2 and it already seems like it's got a lot more going on than in the first. Going to dive in a bit more over the weekend.

On top of that, we've been playing Squeakross as a sort of cool-down game, and Tabi has been itching to get a trackball to play the upcoming Golden Tee collection.

Also god hearing that Hempuli made a solitare game is a sentence alone that's way up our alley. Gotta get to this sometime. - Finn (fae/she)

Aside from logging in just to do dailies in a bunch of goofy phone games and other miscellaneous junk (suffering from Mecha Break's PvP-centric game modes; I'm not a fan of competitive game modes as a rule of thumb, and even its PvE-mode is actually PvPvE), most of my recent playtime has been Final Fantasy V Advance for Four Job Fiesta (did two runs, an Onion and Regular pair, and am planning on starting a Meteor one soon that I want to stream) and Hitman: World of Assassination where I've been slowly working up the 2016 Hitman's campaign: I'm up to Sapienza after doing all the Paris Escalation missions as close to Silent Assassin Suit Only as I could.

After running the current RPG gauntlet (FF7: Rebirth, Metaphor, and Expedition 33) I poked around Steam’s nextfest and summer sale and started exploring some narrative games as a break from massive RPGs. I’m a big fan of slow-burn mysteries, so I played through 1000xRESIST and am now playing through Pentiment. I’ve also got runs of Grandia III, Rogue Galaxy, and Shadow Hearts 3 started on the ol’ emulator box that I’ll occasionally poke at when I’m feeling nostalgic. My Assassin’s Creed: Shadows file currently lies fallow, but I’ll get back to that one day soon. Got a lot on my plate!

currently I'm kinda sorta jumping between a bunch of games, but so far I've mostly been spending my gaming time in the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection (beat Zero 2 again recently!), Horizon Forbidden West, Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy VII Remake (already beat it on PS5 last year, now I'm kinda replaying it on Steam)

Finished Laika: Aged Through Blood the other day. I wrote some longer thoughts about it in my blog, but in summary: a gorgeously atmospheric and beautifully designed game with a gameplay gimmick that's both incredibly fun and incredibly frustrating, and sometimes it feels like the game was forced to adapt around it rather than other way around. Gorgeous, gorgeous soundtrack as well.

I've just now started Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Never played a Yakuza game before but they've been intriguing me for years because of both the high praise they get from everyone, but also the zaniness that's become so memetic around them. So, of course I decided to pop my Yakuza cherry with the odd JRPG shoot-off rather than any of the proper main games - but I felt like this would be more up my street than a standard open world muck-around action game. Not played it much yet but definitely enjoying the vibe and gameplay so far, like Saints Row meets Persona 5.

Been jumping from game to game since I finished Hydlide 2 (with a guide and map because that game would take me ages with trial and error. Chests, stairs, traps and switches are all invisible to begin with)

So far the plan is to start again and try again to actually beat FFV, but considering my track record I'm not getting my hopes up. Every time I tried I end up stop playing for one reason or another.

Oh it’s such a good game. Everyone had doubts about the shift to turn-based when it was announced but it’s genuinely one of the most fun turn-based systems out there an even turns up the wackiness.

I picked up Project Silverfish recently, which is a low-poly, furry STALKER type shooter. Haven't put a lot of time into it but the mood it creates even with just very blocky art is incredible.

I am going through the Tomb Raider series for the first time. I never got to play the original trilogy and I have fallen in love with this game that I can only describe as a comedy sim. It's really mean but in a way that is extremely funny to both me and the stream. I think it helps a ton that the remasters have save anywhere which makes it extremely fair and even the game at its rudest still gets a real good laugh out of me.

Currently I am on the 2nd game. I definitely prefer the first game for surprising me as a really cool puzzle platformer when I assumed it was just an action game. I was glad to be wrong! The 2nd game however has kind of left me so far with mixed feelings where the game is made by a different team and has a lot of hitscan enemies far off that you usually can't tell where they are. It's also got some really confusing and odd level design. But what is keeping me really hooked is a lot of the cool new ideas it has like an area where one of the levels is an old abandoned sunken ship that has such an exciting atmosphere to explore that it might be my favorite area so far.

The real comedy though has come in the form of all the boulder traps which are so well planned ahead that I just gotta respect it. One of my favorites in the first game involved me serpentineing past two boulders really skillfully only to run directly into a 3rd one before I could realize what happened. Another good one has to be a decoy boulder that is really easy to dodge only for the game to have an immediate view after you dodge it of a free item that causes the camera to shift towards a secret second boulder. What really got me good with that item was by the time I saw the boulder I was already locked into the animation and accepted my fate of being flattened like a pancake

A fellow Patapon fan, awesome! I know the gameplay is a bit different from the OG, being a roguelite and all, but the devs have recently gone indie and made a new game called Ratatan!

Last night I played in a Martial Masters tournament! I only gave it a couple of days practice but I went 2-2, which I'm pretty happy with overall. Actually it was ideal, since I put in some good work but I didn't have to stay up for the whole tournament (I misread the start time when I signed up and it turned out to be midnight my time )

Sadly there's no VOD for the whole thing but i got recordings of the matches I played, there's a lot of fun goofy stuff in that game
