It's Critter Time!

ORCAS LETSSS GOOOOOO!!!

I wanted to start a forum thread to share any news/information around of stuff going on with Orcas!
I'm not the best informed, and I'm still figuring out the best ways to stay plugged in, but there has been some exciting recent things going on!!!

Most recently, the Southern Resident Killer Whales have been documented performing something called Allokelping! Essentially they take Bull Kelp (in some cases pulling directly from the stock sometimes!), and position it and rub it between themselves, with the theory being its for skin maintenance! Which is huge since its an example of tool usage in Marine mammals, as well as being an instance of a tool that benefits two parties at once!

Even orcas know that you gotta moisturize n take care of your skin with your besties!!! I loved that article too, it’s especially cute that it’s a such a social behavior between them. Exciting to see more confirmation that, duh, of course animals know how to fashion and use tools :3

Theyre literally so cool, SKRW are definitely my favourite Ecotype but all Orcas are so capable and smart
