for the 1996 theme, i'd suggest changing the body portion to a solid color so it's easier to see the actual text. something like what i did for my personal website (inspired by a friend's site)

I'll take a look at it. My CSS Fu might be a bit weak to change that but I'll give it a shot sometime tonight.

I think the retro is mostly gaming based for this forum but it might make sense to have a space other than oddities for general retro tech, likely recently I've been trying to set up remote control of a sony cd changer with my raspberry pi, but it really only fits in oddities now.

I think one for both is good. just a music zone. we don't wanna fragment an already small userbase too much at this point, but i think a general music board for whatever kind of music related natter would be good. :)

This could be something I could try to work on over the next week. I'll poke around tomorrow to see bow feasible it would be.

This isn't a huge deal but the colours for normal users, admins, and stream team are very similar shades of purple

I know special roles are bolded but it might be better to use entirely different colours? Just an observation

You may want to consider an image/media proxy. Right now anyone can embed an image link from anywhere, and that remote server hosting the image sees what IP loads that image. It would improve user privacy to implement a proxy. It's not critical but something that should be considered.

I've seen this happen before on another forum, someone hosting copies of emotes on their own service

I don't know how useful collecting IPs is but I'm not super well versed in this sort of thing

It's probably not that big of a deal. Most people have dynamic IPs anyways so they get recycled after a time, and geo-locating the IP generally only gets you two the general area it's allocated to, not a specific address. You also don't know what user loaded the image unless you were to DM it directly to them.

I would be more inclined to do this myself if a) I could be assed b) I wasn't irrationally afraid of my hosting bill tripling from traffic on here (I already host my own ref sheets)

Just use a VPS or some Webspace. I get a TB with my provider and I never get anywhere close to that. Some of the cheap ones are only a couple bucks a month.

I'm currently paying something like 35 cents a month for my current usage

kinda related (in that it involves images) but not really: would you consider adding webp and/or avif as accepted attachment types? very unaesthetic, i know, but a lossless webp is a bit smaller than a png, so you can fit more stuff in the attachment limit before having to host it elsewhere

also related involving images, unsure if i just missed how to but image resizing would be amazing,, i keep wanting to add images and force them to be small (like 200px by 300px) so no one is getting flashbanged w/ like a paragraph and then a huge image lol
