Communal CSS shitposting was a sorely needed function on the internet, and I hope to see something else allow for that.

Hi, another Cohost expat here. Own one of the official merch shirts and every time I wear it I sigh in memory of the social media site that felt right to me. The freedom to post what I wanted and how I wanted was so refreshing. It kind of made me feel excited about posting in the internet again, and seeing what other people were cooking at the same time. Miss it dearly.

I was on cohost too while it was still active! It was pretty neat! It's kind of a shame that it shut down soon-ish after I started writing short stories, because I feel like those could've done fairly decent-ish on there, but oh well.

I am -- I got on for a while shortly after it opened, and started getting more active... a few months before the announcement. Just when I felt I was hitting my stride with it. So it goes.

I really liked the place but I hated the ways people would talk about how it was operated. But part of that was because I've had to field similar complaints at my work and it's like, "ah, you've put like zero thought into what it would actually require to implement what you're asking for". Whatever.

Anyway, I miss it, but it might be personally better for me to have less websites to idly sift through.

Didn't use it much during its tenure and I kinda regret that

I bounced between cohost and pillowfort, I so badly wanted cohost to work out because the more places that aren't the central web we have the better.

It's a shame, eggbug will be missed. Maybe it'll ride again but that's unlikely.

Tried it out on and off, but I ultimately didn't have enough people I knew to set roots in yet another "tumblr killer"-like platform. It's a shame too, in its twilight, it really started burgeoning into a true community. Almost wanted to make a return and give it a try, but that was almost immediately around the time its closure was announced...

I wasn't SUPER active there, but it was a frequent haunt of mine and I'm still sad to have seen it go.

More than anything else I'm mad that I never got an eggbug plush.

I was there, too! I still bitterly regret its passing, and I think things would have ended up a little better had it survived for longer.

I spent about a year or so on Cohost after it started to become clear that Twitter was becoming even more of a miserable cesspit than ever before. It definitely wasn't without fault but it was probably the most enjoyable experience I've had with any kind of social media.

I do think I learned quite at least a few things about myself during my time there, primarily that I like to be a gay little jester on the Internet.

When I say this, I mean it was one of the few social media sites where I DIDN'T see people constantly ripping each other's throats out. It had its moments, sure, but they seemed fewer and farther between than other social media.

Butting in to actually have a stake in things outside of the gaming threads

I discovered Cohost during a period of time where I was conflicted about my social presence; yes, I was there, but I wasn't active. Most of my thread was media reviews that I've since tried to move over to my personal site blog. In spite of my general inactivity on the platform, however, I wish every day that it was still a thing.

I'm just happy it got me to write for an audience other than myself, and that in its wake, I still do.

i'm a friend of eggbug! i liked it, and wish that it'd been more stable so i could have used it more reliably; i'd always have issues loading pages after a little while. i don't know if it was bad timing or what, it felt like i was always logging in during downtime! haha. but i really enjoyed how easy it was to share artwork and longform posts.

Former choster as well; I thought it was very pleasant to use on mobile compared to other social media sites. :> Inline image attachements could've used a little work but other than that, I've enjoyed posting on there as a microblogging site. Seeing all the CSS crimes unfold was pretty fun, too.
