Final Fantasy V beaten, enjoyed the cast more than IV or VI, probably because this time they didn't have to fight for the spotlight with like 10 or more characters. That being said mechanically I think I still prefer predefined characters over the job systems.
I'm probably going to play Hydlide 3 next, but haven't decided yet.

Shin Megami Tensei (PSX version) beated
Went for the Neutral route. Very good game! I have the SFC carts for 1, 2, If..., and Kyuuyaku, but the PSX versions for SMT1 and 2 are a bit more appealing to me due to the 3D environments. The turning/movement in the SFC version is a little rough in comparison.

Re: Now Playing...
i picked up Rhythm Storm because almost everything radiangames makes is perfectly tailored to my tastes and this game is crisp when video compression isn't mangling it. like i'm not sure we could blast any more particle fx at you but by god we're going to try

Re: Now Playing...
Just finished Criw Country in one sitting and really enjoyed it. I had a few very minor complaints, but overall it's paced like a proper survival horror.
I've also been playing a bunch if Maze Mice - a Pac-Man roguelite that recently came out on Steam. I like it, although I think it misses some QoL stuff that I've gotten too used to.

Re: Now Playing...
I have severe Palia brainrot... Palia takes up 90% of my brain...
All characters are just beyond amazing, I honestly can't believe that even the "bland" ones turn out to have amazing and immersive writing
Currently on a epic quest to win the heart of this skrunkly purple boyo. I am not immune to tough guys who love nature and have a cute animal companion

Although I have other romanceable characters that I love so much, and there is polyamory option in there. I was never really interested in polyam options in games, and I'm mono myself, but... This is the first game where the characters and the setting are just so cool that I genuinely feel like exploring this option
And well, since this is a furry forum, obligatory alien cat pic [big img warning]

Playing Wheel World. It's a very breezy open world racing game with bikes. You find new parts, win races, but mostly just amble around the very very beautiful countryside. It's the best handling bike in a game I've ever played

Currently playing Sega Master System game Zillion, for a multiworld randomizer.
Zillion is a pretty fun search action game, where you gradually grow your powers and get more party members while delving deep into an enemy headquarters. It has a really unique system of progression, where you need to use ID cards on computer terminals to type in numbers to do various things, like open doors, turn off lasers, and warp back to the start.

Re: Now Playing...
I've spent the last week or two jumping back into OpenTTD, because trains.
I've never really been good at OpenTTD and the last time I played it was probably 2013 or 2014... so this time I'm really digging in, learning how the path signals work, how to build efficient junctions, and different mechanics.
I also encountered this very funny image on the wiki, of two 135 degree angles both labeled 45 degrees. Please enjoy.

I’ll be honest gang, I’m never *not* going to be posting about rhythm games at this point. I’ve been playing pop’n nonstop and do not plan to quit until I can clear a 50, wish me luck if you understand how absurd of an idea that is

Playing "Sorry, We're Closed" and damn, this game presses every button I have. Cool style, survival horror gameplay, interesting characters, nonbinary rep? Can't wait to finish it.

Re: Now Playing...
Finally returning to Yoshi's Island recently. Had it as a kid, but could never beat the final boss. Made a few half-hearted stabs over the years where I'd get like 2 or 3 worlds in before stopping but I've been sticking with it this time and just hit world 5 last night.
I'm enjoying it but feel like the past 2 decades of it being considered one of the best platformers of all time is making me feel like I'm not actually getting as much out of it as most ppl do

Just finished Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 (PC, 2025), and that was an absolutely killer experience. Strange Scaffold has yet to miss for me.

Finished "Sorry, We're Closed" and was really happy with both how mature the writing was and how well it played. I'm not padding some time with Hell Clock until I move on to another "playthrough" of something.

Got Gradius Origins, and it's probably the best Gradius collection yet (at least if you want to play the arcade games only) The options (heh) you have access to are really good and like many of M2's other ShotTriggers games. Salamander III is also very good if it's only downfall being is really dang hard. Highly recommend.

Re: Now Playing...
Currently I'm playing a Pokemon romhack called Pokemon Fool's Gold, which I've been loving so far. It doesn't really change much in the early game aside from the Pokemon themselves which are now all completely different. But going through the familiar setting with brand new creatures or takes on creatures almost makes me feel like I'm going through the game for the first time again.
Aside from that, I'm finally getting around to replaying Deltarune so that I can play the new chapters and remember what happened in the first 2.

Great to heat about that. I was curious about how Salamander 3 was. After the remake of Haunted Castle they put in the Castlevania collection I've been feeling confident with these extras Konami has been throwing into these collections.Lolo De Puzlo wrote: Thu Aug 07, 2025 12:26 am Salamander III is also very good if it's only downfall being is really dang hard. Re: Now Playing...
There was rumored to be a Salamander ReBirth during the era where M2 was doing those for Konami during the WiiWare days and I'm like 80% this was what came from that. There's a sense of the soundtrack mostly being remixes of older tracks that really reminds me of the ReBirth games and it share a lot of similar styling. Especially since one of the stagesDustStar wrote: Thu Aug 07, 2025 2:14 pmGreat to heat about that. I was curious about how Salamander 3 was. Re: Now Playing...
Started up "You Will Die Here Tonight" and I never thought we'd get an indie horror game inspired by Resident Evil Gaiden of all things, but first impressions are pretty positive.

Finished Deltarune up to chapter 4, lost to temptation and got it. Had fun with it, can't wait to see the next chapters.
Edit (didn't feel it was appropriate to post twice in a row):
Also finished Strange Jigsaws, a short and nice series of jigsaw puzzles each with their own gimmicks.

Re: Now Playing...
I put down OpenTTD, I did a long and narrow map as a bit, it kind of ended up working out, connected the whole thing with passenger train lines and a couple of industry lines, feel like I got what i needed out of it.
So now I have picked Rollerdrome back up, which I played a little when it came out but haven't really gone back to until now, and gang the semifinals are *fucking hard* and I am *not good at videogames*

Playing this on the steam deck more than on the desktop. I dunno, it feels appropriate on the deck.
