Re: Have you played Atari 2600 to-day?

I’ve personally never been in the same room as one, but I’ve played Adventure and Combat using Stella and heard my mom reminisce about how she loved playing Pac-Man on hers growing up.

I struggle a bit to build the appreciation I have for other retro consoles because of the simplicity of the ...

Re: The Obituraries: Remembering Dead Games

This is gonna be a very weird one to mention for the vibes of this forum, but Marvel Avengers Alliance for Facebook ( ) is one I actually miss a lot.

You'd make your own Agent working for S.H.I.E.L.D. and you'd build your team of various Marvel characters. The class and ability system was ...

The Obituraries: Remembering Dead Games

Did the central server a game you loved depended on get shut down? Did an MMO you play discontinue a questline or location you have fond memories of? Was the gameplay mode you and your friends played together retired? Maybe the game technically still can be played by you, but it has since been ...

Re: Warning: a huge battleship "shmup thread" is approaching fast (new: Salamander III)

Is anyone interested in the cryptographic key needed to extract the data (including ROMs) from the alldata.psb.m file in their Steam copy of Gradius Origins?

I can get you the key and point you in the direction of the MArchiveBatchTool by the ModMyClassic team so you are able to do so

You’re using them to emulate, so this seems like a fitting place to talk about them, yeah c:

Re: Emulation Megathread

the NSO stuff isn't really a suitable replacement for me, because I don't like having to pay a subscription to play those.

I hear you there. I wouldn’t have it if my polycule wasn’t already on a family plan.

Also, fuck RetroArch. All my homies hate RetroArch ratatatatatata

I hope to do ...

Re: Emulation Megathread

You know mentally I'm still completely out of the loop with some things. How is 3DS emulation on PC? I haven't ever tried it.

You may have heard about the Yuzu emulator getting legal harassment from Nintendo? The result of that was them settling out of court instead of spending all the time and ...

Re: Emulation Megathread

My current go to approach for emulation on PC is using dedicated emulators for PS2 era and later systems, Duckstation for PS1 and BizHawk for most of everything else. The BizHawk approach is primarily there because it's easiest to switch between games during a stream, but I'm upgrading to a MiSTer ...

Emulation Megathread

Thanks to emulation, your computer, smartphone, modded console, or even television set can play video games not intended for them. Whether it’s MAME , Mednafen , mGBA , or VICE , it seems like everything can run on everything these days.

This is the place to suggest your favorite emulators, ask ...

Re: Metroid series

I don’t have much of substance to add here, but I've been playing Metroid Dread lately and it’s downright gorgeous.

It makes me want to go back and play Metroid: Samus Returns (which I intentionally skipped out of spite after what Nintendo did to AM2R: Return of Samus ). My initial impressions from ...

NetHack (1987)

NetHack is among the original “roguelike” games from a time when roguelikes in fact looked and played much like the original 1980 game Rogue . Think more along the lines of the tile-based, each-move-you-make-is-a-turn–based, randomly-generated, multilevel exploration of the Mystery ...
