Re: PC Engine

Yeah there's a whole lot of extended animation sequences in CD-ROM² games. I suppose when you look at it all it's not so surprising that NEC tried to capitalise on it with the PCFX. But yeah, it was more to fill space really, haha! The games themselves didn't often need all that space, and honestly ...

Re: Why are you the way you are

I was just born a fox really. Some of my earliest art is of me as a fox person, at five years old, long before I discovered that there were any other people who liked to draw themselves as animals.

It look a lot longer to contextualise myself into society though, I suppose. Since society never gave ...

Re: Super Nintendo Entertainment System

I have fond memories of the SNES and Mega Drive equally, as they were both available at an after-school club I'd be put in while my parents were still out working when school had finished. On the Mega Drive I played Sonic, and on the SNES I played such varied games as Super Mario World, Super Mario ...

Hiii Sophie!!! foxkawaii

Yeah, the SNES soundchip requires instruments, but the OPN3 is an instrument, so needs to be used like one. And not to forget the PSG which came along with the Master System backwards-compatibility too; that can add some great versatility to its sound!

There's something ...

Re: Console Modding Projects

It's fascinating what people can do with their handhelds! So many aesthetic mods for them, and it makes sense to truly personalise something you're able to take around with you everywhere!

My modding takes the more mundane route however, simply improving the functionality and versatility of the ...

Re: Videopac / Odyssey² — The excitement of a game, the mind of a computer!

I had no idea there were hybrid board/video games so early. I would have loved something like Quest For The Rings as a kid, even if it didn't play well.

It's funny you say that, as the very first games console, the original Magnavox Odyssey, was also essentially built entirely around those ...

Definitely agree with Nova about going all-in on the self-indulgence - that's literally the point of a fursona! To embody what makes you feel best to be!

The Mega Drive and its ecosystem

The Mega Drive. Or Genesis if you're freaky. The Master System had set the stage for Sega, but not really lived up to its potential. But a new era was approaching - Nintendo had relinquished its exclusivity clause in the West, computing power was becoming more and more affordable, and Sega was ...

Famicom and NES!

The console that started it all. For Nintendo, in the West, at least...hehe.
But a significant console nonetheless!

It's a cool and tidy kind of system with a really huge library and so many great games, but what I find most fascinating about it is how it feels like a bridge between two eras in ...

PC Engine

I see there's a thread related to the PC Engine here already, but it's about a series covering the games, not the console broadly in itself! So here it is!

The strangely diminutive and modular console which was mostly exclusive to Japan. Yes the US did get the Turbografx, but it seems like it had ...

Re: Nintendo 64

The N64 feels different from a lot of consoles, certainly those which came before. It has basically no arcade titles, and mostly cutesy mascot games (most of which being platformers). More than any Nintendo console before it's understandable how it got seen as "kiddy".

However it then also has a ...

Re: Sega Saturn — A True 32-Bit Gem

I love the Saturn. While its development and release was troubled, I do think it's a true successor to the Mega Drive. Such 2D power, and such great arcade ports, it really exemplifies how cool Sega can be. Of course, we all know the flip-side of that that it demonstrates too, but we don't have to ...

Re: Playstation, the PSX

The PS1 largely passed me by despite having a PS2 I could have played the games on, but I played some Crash Bandicoot and Tekken as a kid. Oh, and The Misadventures of Tron Bonne too of all games xP

But I've collected up a small number of games, and I've recently picked an actual PS1, and modded an ...

Re: The Sega Master System Megathread

The Master System!! It lives up to its name, hehe. Well, it never quite got its chance to shine as it could have thanks to Nintendo's stranglehold, but that didn't stop it from exceeding expectations.

It's got a bunch of funky peripherals too, like the 3D glasses! Which I have! Bulky, but ...

Re: PlayStation 2 - A console to surpass PS1

The PS2, Gamecube and Wii were the only non-handheld games consoles I had until like 2019. Loved games such as Sly Raccoon, Jak II and Star Wars: Racer Revenge, but there are so many games for it and some niche ones others might have missed that I spent so much time playing as a kid were ...
