Re: The Obituraries: Remembering Dead Games

Gundam Evolution

Was it the most sterling and amazing game ever? No, god no

It was Overwatch with a Gundam skin. But it was competently done enough and was an actually decent Gundam Game and was done in due to Bandai Namco's terrible management. It's telling that the second the game was set to be ...

Re: Fighting Games

Been trying to learn Strive again, playing with a friend who's just as clueless as me is FUN

This has also been getting me to think about a game concept I've had in my mind for a while

I want to see if the crazy mobility systems of Anime Fighters can work as a control scheme for a Metroidvania ...

Swords and Fencing

I have sword autism. Specifically HEMA Autism.

I love the look of European Longswords and I actually managed to take HEMA classes for a few months before life got in the way (I want to resume so badly).

Re: Fighting Games

Also Ed Boon still defends the animations of modern Netherealm games, saying that they're perfectly realistic and people who say they look bad are "too used to cartoons"
So I would say it's not a purposeful "legacy art" choice

Re: Fighting Games

I feel like what makes fighting game animations cool or impactful is that they look unrealistic. Characters don’t move like humans so naturally they have to move in ways that are more about feeling right to a player and for gameplay. Realism should take a back seat to game feel imo. Real people ...

Not gotten around to the videos yet, but I was discussing this with Jennifer a while ago, I hadn't seen MK for a long time and after tuning into a tournament ('cause Sonic Fox), boy, the animations look rough .
They look like they purposefully tried to model them after the clunky motion captures ...

I've yet to play Deltarune past chapter 1 when it first came out, I need to get on it

However, for what it represents, being a story that can only truly be experienced as a game and how ...

Re: Gundam ("Wow Cool Robot/War is Hell")

You should check out the Devil Gundam from G Gundam, it's a hell of a time

I know about the Devil Gundam but it's just not quite what I wanted.
Not overtly flesh since it's mostly nano machines that end up looking vaguely flesh like at times

And it's autonomous and possessive of the pilot, and ...

Re: Kamen Rider ("HENSHIN") and other Toku Shows

Been rewatching Den-O by watching it with a friend to introduce them to the franchise.
Now I chose Den-O because they're plural and as I started to learn more about DID from them, the more I noticed parallels with Den-O.

The most surprising thing is how well the show works as a DID metaphor ...

Originally I gave my sona Two Heads to show my, at the time, gender fluidity. One person, but one side more masculine and the other more feminine.

Then I became fully transfem so now I have two heads just for cuteness

Kamen Rider and Super Sentai are two of my favorite series, my faves are W, Fourze, Ex-Aid, and Build for Rider, and Shinkenger, Gokaiger, Zenkaiger, Donbrothers, and Gozyuger for Sentai :3

Indie Metroidvanias

Metroidvanias are my favorite genre of game (though ironically I still haven't played the original Castlevanias or most of the Metroid catalogue) due to just how alive their worlds can feel when done right.

While I've already made a thread on Nine Sols, I found it to be less of a Metroidvania and ...
